Mobile devices in PeopleSoft

How important is mobile device deployment to large organizations productivity and processes? Well 86% of large organizations over 1000 employees considered mobile devices were either critical or important…and that was back in 2012. This will have only grown in 2017. Given the business value of greater connectivity, productivity, and application flexibility, the mobile enterprise has become an unstoppable force.
There is no doubt that mobile workspaces can improve enterprise workforce productivity by enabling people to get their work done in a fully secured environment as they conduct business on any network, at any location, and any device.
The same is true with the PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface.  However, the Fluid User Interface is not just about mobility.  It is truly about the overall user experience and ensuring that this experience is cohesive and unified across any platform or device.   There is an increasing pressure on enterprises to deliver a superior customer (user) experience, regardless of the channel (Web, mobile, Desktop).
Designed as a significant improvement over the PeopleSoft “classic” user interface, the PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface moves away from pixel-perfect page layout and provides greater flexibility with the enhanced use of cascading style sheets (CSS3), HTML5, and JavaScript.  The key features and benefits are:
  • Any device, any location, any network
  • Allows a better user experience on both desktop & mobile
  • Improves productivity of the entire organization
  • Entices and Encourages your organization to react and respond
  • More productive, less frustrated, employees
Oracle is fully heads down and committed to Fluid and the addition of many new Fluid pages, dashboards, tiles, analytics, and more.  In fact, the newer version of PeopleTools 8.55 comes with Fluid enabled as a default with a unified navigation.   Both the stylesheet and the header and unified and Fluid enabled. The end user will not realize the difference from a classic and Fluid enabled page because of this navigation.
There are many new enhancements with the Fluid User Interface in PeopleTools 8.55 and with more to come.  Here are a few benefits of a unified navigation:
  • It’s always available
  • Users can navigate any page Fluid or Classic
  • Configurable and Personalized
  • Navigation Collections (8.55)
  • Unified Navigation (via Interaction Hub)
In addition to these benefits there are many new features that are now Fluid enabled such as:
  • Enhanced Tiles
  • Fluid enabled Dashboards
  • Fluid enabled Analytics
  • Related Actions within Fluid
  • Activity Guides, and
  • Work Centers
